Program Evaluations

Organizational Reviews

  • 01

    Review existing documents to examine how policy aligns with practice.

    Reach out to similar organizations to learn their best-practices.

    Interviews with staff, volunteers, clients, stakeholders to learn best-practices and recommendations.

    Make recommendations based on this impartial third-party review.

Survey development

  • 01

    Reach a consensus on the topic for the survey.

  • 02

    Use best-practices in survey design (e.g., use simple words, ask one thing per question).

  • 03

    Paper, or web-based administration.

  • 04

    Create a report that is easy to read and that provides a visual of the results. An engagement session, or formal presentation, on the results is possible.

Engagment sessions

  • 01

    These sessions can be focus groups on a specific topic, forums to generate ideas, or sessions to debrief other activities.

    Use a World Cafe style (i.e., everyone has a chance to contribute to each sub-topic area, notes are created by the group, summary report created organically)

    Atmosphere set with music, refreshments, before and after group discussions about the format.

    Serve as educational opportunities for the other service areas (i.e., program evaluation, marketing for non-profits, website development).

    Facilitator led with a focus on self-learning, and the application of skills to real-world contexts.

    This involves the development of a strategy that may be self-administered, or administered by a third-party.

    The strategy may involve the development of social media content, poster designs, news release templates, media release templates, developing or changing a website, as well as workshops on how to implement the strategy.

    A review of previous marketing products will help guide the strategy development.

    This may involve making changes to an existing website, or creating a new web presence.

    Web-hosting services are available, as well as the development of a user friendly platform for the client to make regular updates to their site.

    Handouts and workshops on how to manage the site are available. As well on-going web management services are available.

    Groups of any size work for these sessions. Requested topics will be considered.

    Topics may include how program evaluation can make a difference, new areas of progress in mental health for youth and young adults, and how to engage youth and young adults in Nova Scotia.
